“I so enjoyed myself volunteering and being among the kids. This community event was GREAT!!”
— Loriel, Chicago
On Oct 31st 2020 we painted and safely activated vacant lots at 58th & Halsted street in Chicago for a community celebration. Englewood Arts Collective, winners of Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s INVEST South/West public arts initiative for the Englewood neighborhood corridor, partnered with R.A.G.E for logistics, Brown Books and Paintbrushes for programming, and a host of other orgs showed up and showed out!
Creating Art and Holding Space for Good
Thanks to our Volunteers, Partners and Participating Orgs: Over 100 high-quality Black children’s books, 100 bags of groceries and school supplies, over 1000 diapers, 200 servings of soup & hot cocoa, 75+ food servings, apple cider, treats and countless impressions of joy was distributed!
We heard you!
We polled residents both digitally and in-person. After counting all votes, the words most chosen were painted on the mural.
Volunteers: Thank You!
You came from all over Chicago and from within Englewood to help us. We appreciate you!
